Blue Jackets School Includes Skating Treadmill
Skating is the foundation of playing hockey. If you do not have the proper skating mechanics, explosive speed, quickness, and balance you’re missing out on the opportunity to out-maneuver your competitor. Hockey players from youth to professional levels are improving their speed, conditioning, skating mechanics, puck handling, and shooting skills by participating in the Accelerate Ohio Hockey Treadmill Program.
Accelerate Ohio Hockey Program Director Nick Kormanyos adds, “The key to being a great hockey player is being a great skater. The Skating Treadmill Program will make you a faster, stronger, and more technically sound skater. Your on-ice confidence will grow knowing you have the speed to beat your opponents to the puck. From young players just learning to skate to High School and beyond the Skating Treadmill is in a category by itself.”
The Accelerate Ohio Hockey Treadmill Program is an innovative, scientifically-designed training program that utilizes the hockey treadmill where athletes can train specifically how they play the game and use their own equipment – including skates.
The exclusive treadmill has a unique ice-like surface, inclines from zero to 35% elevation, can run at speeds over 16 mph and incorporates patented Sprint Cord Technology to optimally recruit skating-specific musculature.
Former NHL Star and current Dallas Stars Co-GM Brett Hull states, “There are a lot of benefits to the Hockey Treadmill. During the off-season, you can do a lot of things, from biking to running, but this is a program where I can use my equipment; I’ve got my skates on that I wear during the season. The program sets you up for not only endurance skating, but it also does elevation and quick sprints. So it helps your foot speed as well as you’re cardiovascular and your leg strength…It’s so great for little kids just learning. It teaches you how to skate properly. For the intermediate, girls or guys, it develops your leg strength and skating muscles. From college players to great high school players and those in the pro ranks, it’s a great conditioning program!”
Current NHL players that have trained on the patented skating treadmill include Jason Blake, Marian Gaborik, Thomas Vanek, Pascal Dupuis, Paul Martin as well as 467 other NHL players. US Women’s Olympians who have trained on the skating treadmill include, Alana Blahoski, Pam Dwyer, Karen Bye, and Angela Ruggerio.
Also four Division I college hockey teams have access to the treadmill. The Ohio State University, Cornell University, University of Minnesota, and Michigan Tech University. The US National Team Development Program (USNTDP) which houses the top 46; 16 and 17 year old players located in Ann Arbor, MI also train on the treadmill.
All participants that attend the Blue Jackets Hockey School this summer will get the opportunity to utilize the skating treadmill. For more info or to sign up visit www.TheChiller.com. For more info about Accelerate Ohio please call (614) 323-2667 or visit www.accelerateohio.com.
